We had a wonderful Christmas. We were blessed beyond belief! Charles and I were blessed to be with family and our children at the home. We spent many days together, playing games and watching "A Christmas Story". I Love my little family and feel very blessed to have it.

Cottage Vacation

This year we took, Cobe, Deng, Trent (D's Friend), Casey, Junior, Christian, Ka'Vadrion, and Morgan to Red River. Charleston couldn't go because of Driver's Ed. We had a blast. We giggled and laughed until we couldn't any longer! I love my big family!

My boys are playing a ton of sports!! They are wild, and we are loving it!!

Cobe, one of our boys, got Baptized on May 16, 2010. We were so proud. Charles Baptized him. It was Charles' first time to baptize anyone and he did a great job!

It has been many months since I have updated anything, So here is a recap!

I Turned 30 on October 29th. My mom threw me a Surprise Birthday Party at Hoffbrau. 30 of my Closest friends were there. My boys at home threw me a Surprise Party as well, on my actual birthday. They decorated our dining room for the occasion. 30 is not near as bad as I thought it was going to be!! I am very blessed!

Halloween was FUN this year, especially since I got to celebrate with my little boys. My mom and I carved pumpkins with the boys and took them Trick or Treating. In the picture my youngest went to Sundown Lane and painted pumpkins. We had a GREAT time!!

Thanksgiving was a GREAT TIME! My whole family and Charles' aunt came to dinner at our house for Thanksgiving. You have never seen so much food. We fed 16!! Here is Sophie Dressed up for the occasion!!!

Charles and I Celebrated our One YEAR anniversary. He bought me a Diamond Necklace and we went to Lubbock and celebrated with friends. It has been the happiest year of my life. He is my best friend and I am very blessed to have him by my side everyday.

Santa Came the Central Cottage!! You have never seen so many toys in your life. The boys were so blessed this year. Excel Energy donated a "wish-list" to each child on campus. They got to pick several things they wanted and Excel bought it for them. It was truly amazing!! Santa did make it. He got to choose from Chocolate Milk, Strawberry Milk and Plain Milk. He chose Plain milk. He made a huge mess in the living room. The boys put down baby powder to see what size shoe he wore and he left tracks all over the house!! (By the way, Santa has HUGE feet!!)
My family and Charles' aunt came out for Christmas dinner. We only fed 13 this time, but we had a great time.

Mema Celebrated her 89th birthday on January 5th. I am so blessed to have her in my life. She is truly a blessing and joy.

Our three youngest boys, Ray, Justin and Casey started UPWARD basketball this season. They are doing really well for it being their first time to play. We have enjoyed watching their games!!

During the Blizzard of 2010, we had a contest on campus. Whoever could build the best snowman or snow"creation" on campus would win a movie and dinner. We got second place with the Central Snowman. He was 9.5 feet tall. He was perfectly round. My boys worked for hours on him. After two hours I was frozen to the bone and ready for some hot cocoa!! We won treats at Braums for second place!!

The Newest addition to our family Olivia Newton Jones turned one last month!! It is hard to believe that she is already one, but it is even more hard to believe how LAZY she is! We are truly blessed with a LAZY dog! Her name should be ROCKET!!

I hope this catches everyone up on what the Jones' have been doing!! I am sorry if we have not been in contact with you, but as you can see we are SUPER busy raising our 7 boys. We LOVE our kiddos and welcome anyone to our cottage to meet them. The have truly blessed our lives and we cannot imagine a day without them. Please keep in touch and I will be better about posting!!! Love to all!

For my mom's birthday my cousin got her bosses suite at the horse races. We were 5 floors up on the finish line. We sat in the air, had wonderful food and could step out on the balcony to watch the race. It was so much fun. The races will never be the same after that!

High Plains Children's Home

Charles and I have been praying everyday for the last year for God to direct us where we are supposed to be, that we could guide and help the most children. We first thought that Boys Ranch was it. We continued to pray and God led us in the direction of High Plains Children's Home. We applied last Tuesday and had an interview on Thursday. We accepted the job on Friday. We feel very blessed.

This will be my last year teaching for a while and Charles' last day at Boys Ranch is June 7. We start at High Plains on June 9Th. We are very excited for what the future brings. Please keep us in your prayers so that we may do the best of our ability to help and guide these sweet, wonderful children. We will be living in the Axe house and we alternate between Axe and the Central house. We will have 8 boys ranging from 10-17. Thank you so much to everyone who was a reference and who has prayed with us. We love you all and we will keep you informed of your future endeavors.

Agency History

In 1963, the Elders of the Southlawn and Southside Churches of Christ in Amarillo, Texas, conducted a study to determine the need for additional child care facilities in the Texas Panhandle. The data concluded that there was a definite need to be served.

In 1964, several interested Amarillo Churches of Christ met to develop preliminary plans to establish a children's home. Many of the area Churches of Christ pledged resources to assist in financing the future children's home. The Southlawn congregation was chosen to oversee and direct the new agency.

In 1967, after successfully completing the necessary Charter and Licensing requirements with the State of Texas, High Plains was ready to officially begin operations and accepting child placements. The original land for the location of the Home was west of Amarillo, near Wildorado. However, due to concerns that the remote location and travel distance might be prohibitive, a new 40-acre property was acquired just south of the Amarillo city limits. By October of 1967, the first cottage was completed and the High Plains Children's Home campus program was a reality.

In August of 1970, the Southlawn and Southside congregations merged to become what is known today as the Southwest Church of Christ. At that time it was decided that the new Board of Directors for High Plains Children's Home would be the Elders of the Southwest congregation. Today, the Southwest Elders appoint the Board of Directors selected from Church of Christ members from various congregations in the area.

High Plains Children's Home is a chartered, non-profit organization with the expressed purpose "to establish, maintain, endow and operate a Home for orphan, dependent, neglected, abandoned, abused and needy children." Today, High Plains Children's Home is a very prominent and productive agency serving the needs of children from all occurrences of life.

The Home is fully licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and The Texas Department of Health.

Recipe Exchange

This recipe is old, but delicious. They sell them in a box at wal-mart, but here is the homemade kind. You can take out any of the ingredients to make it your own....(in case someone doesn't like an ingredient)

Ingredient's
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 (14 ounce) can EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nut

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glass dish). Coat 13x9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Press down firmly with a fork.

Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Cut into bars or diamonds. Store covered at room temperature.

We had 1 Corinthians read at our wedding by Lee. It is now my favorite verse in the Bible. I read it everyday when I get ready to leave for work. I have it on a Post-it-Note in my bathroom drawer. Charles jokes that he would have had a shorter verse read at the wedding. (as if our wedding wasn't short enough!!)

Our Story

In June of 2007 Lindsay sent Charles a message on Yahoo! Personals telling him that She would like to visit with him sometime. Several days later Lindsay deleted her Yahoo! Personals account, swearing off of all men. Three weeks later Lindsay received a message on MYSPACE from Charles asking her if she still wanted to visit sometime. Lindsay was in Dallas and did not respond for several weeks. They finally talked through MYSPACE sending messages back and forth introducing themselves. After a couple of weeks of sending e-mails, Charles asked Lindsay if she would like to talk in Instant Messenger. She agreed. They talked for three days on Instant Messenger for several hours a day. Charles finally asked Lindsay if he could call her. She agreed and the first night they talked on the phone for 6 hours. They will both tell you that they have never laughed as hard as they did that night. They talked on the phone off and on for a couple of weeks. All the while Charles was begging Lindsay to meet him. After much persuasion, Lindsay finally agreed to meet. Charles called on a Friday night and asked if he could come over. Lindsay was just finishing her first week of teaching. Lindsay did not want him to come over, because she was tired and had sweats on. He insisted and she finally agreed. In less than seven minutes, Charles showed up at Lindsay’s house. They watched a movie and she fell asleep during it. He woke her up and told her he was going to leave. He gave her a kiss on the forehead and said he was going to call her later. Lindsay did not hear from him for three days and one morning at 6:00am, Charles called Lindsay to tell her to have a good day at work. They have not spent a day apart since that day. Charles asked Lindsay to marry him on April 23, 2008.

Happy 2009! I cannot believe how time flies when you are having fun. 2008 was a blast and Charles and I have never felt more blessed. We hope that 2009 brings our friends and family much happiness and joy. We look forward to what God has in store for us!

Olivia Newton Jones

On December 20, 2008 we added a new addition to the family. Our new Bassett Hound Olivia Newton Jones. She is the most precious thing EVER! She weighed 8lbs when we got her. She is black, white and brown. She has eight inch ears!! Her favorite person in the whole world in my mom. Her next favorite person is Sophie Rosie. We LOVE this little dog!

I have a mini weenie-dog, Sophie. She is 6 years old and will be 7 in June. I absolutely love her. She makes my day everyday. She is having to adjust to her new sister. Every night Sophie will tell us when she is ready to go to bed buy laying on the stairs about half-way up. She crashes every night about 9:30 and sleeps between my legs. She keeps the bed warm. Charles adopted her last year, hence the name!
